Danielle Brown is a marine mammal scientist and naturalist with over a decade of experience studying whales along the Atlantic coast. As Gotham Whale’s Director of Research, Danielle leads efforts to better understand and protect the whales that frequent the New York-New Jersey Bight. Danielle is widely recognized as a leading expert on humpback whales in the New York Bight, combining field research with community science to monitor and protect these incredible animals. She is currently completing the requirements to earn her PhD in the Ecology and Evolution Graduate Program at Rutgers University, where her research focuses on the ecology of humpback whales along the U.S. East Coast.

Catherine McClave brings a powerful passion for marine conservation and education to her role as Gotham Whale’s Director of Educational Outreach. She is dedicated to creating impactful educational programs that connect students across New York City, Long Island, and northern New Jersey with the wonders of the New York-New Jersey Bight. Catherine works closely with teachers from the NY Nature Mobile and independent educators to develop a comprehensive curriculum for elementary, middle, and high school students, expanding the reach of marine education in underserved communities. As a member of Gotham Whale’s Board of Directors, Catherine is committed to inspiring the next generation of ocean advocates by bringing hands-on learning experiences to the classroom. Her initiatives aim to deepen students’ understanding of marine life, particularly whales, while empowering them to become active stewards of their environment.

Paul Solano is a fundraising powerhouse, bringing over 37 years of expertise in nonprofit development to Gotham Whale Inc. His career has been defined by transforming passion into impact, leading successful major gift and capital campaigns across academia, healthcare, and conservation. As a dedicated leader, Paul has served as development chair on more than 10 nonprofit boards, where he has helped organizations secure vital funding, expand their missions, and change lives.
